You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck

Not only is the 4th of July a day to celebrate our independence, our freedom, those who fight for our freedom, but it is a day to celebrate the fact that we are America, and we are proud. We hope you took the time to thank a soldier, thanked the universe for your existence, and celebrated with your family (and sparklers). Our email team searched through our inboxes and have provided you with our top picks from the Holiday weekend (including some amazing sales). We hope you enjoy these, as much as we did.

Let’s Focus on Our Pets

Subject: Does your dog fear fireworks? Not anymore.

PetSmart had fun with their email this year and was able to incorporate the holiday, the festive colors, and the safety of their pups. I enjoyed the fact that this was less about people, and more about pets. Who doesn’t love an adorable pet dressed to impress for the 4th of July?

Simple and Patriotic

Subject: Happy 4th of July

Chosen by Vicki Campana, Sr. Email Strategist & Project Manager

Hunter was one of the few emails I received that did not contain a promotion, and I respect that. The holiday does not have to be all about a good sale, but can be about a fun email. This email jumped out at me immediately because they were able to take one simple product, with a themed background, and provide us with a fun, patriotic email.

Simplistic, yet Extremely Effective

Subject: Birthdays, BBQs, and a little something extra.

Chosen by Danny Taylor, Senior Email Solutions Specialist

In this email, Mack Weldon subtly plays with reds and blues, along with a patriotic theme, but really highlights their story (of first opening on July 4th, 4 years ago) and their mission of bringing comfortable classics to customers. The focus is on the product, and the story behind the brand’s evolution in a simple and clean, yet compelling way.

Red, White and Shoes

Subject: Star Spangled Sale: 25% Off!

Chosen by Julianna Renaud, Sr. Email Strategist & Web Analytics Specialist

Havaianas did a great job developing their creative and making it specifically themed for the holiday campaign. They were able to highlight multiple versions of the same product (red, white and blue) and make the creative eye catching, as well as festive. The font size was perfect and the text was not lost within the creative, making it easily readable on a mobile device. I appreciate the fact that the copy was short and to the point of their holiday sale, and they positioned the important copy and CTA above the fold.

For the Love of Nature

Subject: 4th of July Clearance—Get the Best Gear While It Lasts

Chosen by Brittany Pettrone, Lead Email Solutions Specialist

This email caught my eye because it was simplistic, playful and of course, focused on the love of nature. REI is showing the viewer what they could do while using their products, rather than featuring the actual products. REI did a wonderful job of creating a sense of desire for the consumer to click through and check out their campaign products. I know I did!
